is this what we are suppose to be like or become?
I am so upset when I hear stories from a school that is so ranking-minded/competitive, that it become a place, no longer of nurturing young minds. So how has Singapore, a Garden City, become a place of competition so much ,so that her citizens are caught in the middle of it all? Students and parents alike a paper-chasing that learning is no longer fun or enriching.
I was just talking to an old friend and she told me how our school has changed from a place of peace, innocence to…[ I don’t like to use these/words but I think it’s the only description] Bitchy-ness, rude, catty!-all the things assoc. with”un-ladylike-ness”. I was really upset when I heard all this. stories of how students plan sabotage and even learn how to bully those "un-cool".... Now I don’t know whether it’s a place I can call my home?. I don’t know if I should bring my kids/daughters into the school that I tot was good and home-like, both academically and character-wise.
so what has these world or "once my world" have become? i can only share what i enjoyed about my teenage years..however, i don't think u will be able to see it now....not like how it was, when i was still around.
I urge, teachers and students outta there, that it’s not only about making it to the top of the academic level or MOE top 10….but if u don’t nurturing a proper character, all u get- Nasty, rude, self-centred people- who are supposed the future of tomorrow…imagine our future with these kinds of people? We would be under a tyranny.
